I just learned more about Billy Markus, the guy behind Dogecoin. Basically a programmer who worked at IBM, nothing extraordinary, but he decided to create a joke cryptocurrency with his friend Jackson Palmer in late 2013. The craziest part is that they never expected it to take off like this. It was just to mock Bitcoin and Litecoin, you know?

The interesting fact is that Billy Markus uses the alias Shibetoshi Nakamoto on X (Twitter), and has millions of followers. He was born in Portland, Oregon in 1983, but honestly, he has kept a pretty low profile considering he created one of the most well-known cryptocurrencies. We don't know much about his personal life, but he definitely left his mark on the crypto world with that project that started as a joke.

Who would have thought that a meme coin would become so important, right? Billy Markus probably didn't see it coming.
