OpenAI: Launching a Limited Preview of the Next-Generation Model GPT-5.6 Series

Jinse Finance reported that on June 27, OpenAI said it has opened a limited preview of the GPT-5.6 series. The series includes the flagship model Sol, the balanced model Terra for everyday work, and the fast and cost-effective model Luna. Terra’s performance is comparable to GPT-5.5, but its cost is 2 times lower; Luna delivers powerful capabilities at the lowest cost. GPT-5.6 Sol is equipped with the company’s strongest security protection system to date. It strengthens defenses against high-risk activities, sensitive network requests, and repeated abuse, spending weeks identifying system weaknesses and conducting stress tests to improve its ability to withstand real-world attacks. The company plans to fully roll out GPT-5.6 Sol, Terra, and Luna in the coming weeks. As part of its ongoing communication with the U.S. government, OpenAI showed the government the company’s release plan and the models’ capabilities ahead of Friday’s launch. GPT-5.6 Sol is its most powerful model yet.
