A Blockchain Initiative for Education and Financial Inclusion
Indonesian conglomerate Indomobil Group has partnered with Space Time Foundation to launch an initiative aimed at providing verifiable education to more than 50,000 Indonesian students. The program leverages SXT Chain, a blockchain platform developed by Space and Time, to store proof of course completion, enabling students to easily verify their credentials when applying for jobs or pursuing further education.
According to a statement, the initiative also incorporates SXT—the native token of Space and Time—as the primary payment method. It is designed to support Indonesia’s unbanked population, which has traditionally relied on intermediaries to convert and transfer funds to educational providers.
Instead of using cash, parents and students can directly transfer SXT tokens to local schools. This streamlined approach is intended to make education payments faster, more transparent, and more reliable, particularly for those who are financially excluded.
Jusak Kertowidjojo, president director of Indomobil Group, underscored the significance of the initiative, stating: “Indomobil has always believed in building long-term infrastructure that supports national development. Education is a critical part of that. Our partnership with Space and Time and MakeInfinite Labs allows us to lead the world in efficient, transparent, and verifiable education.”
Space and Time provides the backend infrastructure for the program, indexing every transaction and making all payment and educational data instantly accessible and verifiable. In a system where payments occur without intermediaries, data becomes the sole source of truth. This ensures that every transaction can be independently traced and verified, offering the transparency and accountability needed to scale the program effectively.
Nate Holiday, co-founder of the Space and Time network, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration:
“We are thrilled that Indomobil leverages Space and Time technology to modernize and expand access to education for thousands of students. Blockchain offers a faster, more transparent, and more inclusive alternative to traditional payment systems.”
By removing financial barriers and ensuring verifiability through blockchain infrastructure, the initiative not only introduces a scalable model for delivering education but also addresses the unbanked dilemma common in emerging economies. Students will gain direct access to modern education and financial systems, with the ability to verify their credentials and coursework anytime, anywhere.
