According to PeckShield, cryptocurrency hacks in September 2025 caused losses of 127.06 million USD, a fall of 22% compared to August, but still recorded nearly 20 attacks. The two largest incidents were UXLINK and SwissBorg, accounting for nearly 2/3 of the total losses.
UXLINK lost 44.14 million USD when hackers exploited the multisig wallet to issue nearly 10 trillion tokens, causing the token price to plummet by more than 90%. SwissBorg suffered a loss of 41.5 million USD after its API partner Kiln was breached, leading to a loss of 192,600 SOL. Additionally, a Venus user fell victim to phishing, losing 13.5 million USD, although 13 million USD has been recovered. Other projects like Yala, GriffAI, and several smaller protocols also incurred losses ranging from 1 to 7 million USD.
Although it decreased slightly compared to August, the total damage in 2025 has surpassed 2.2 billion USD for the entire year of 2024, putting this year at risk of becoming one of the worst years for blockchain security.
