According to Mars Finance, Google is in preliminary negotiations with AI company Anthropic, planning to increase its investment. Sources say the new round of financing could value Anthropic at over $350 billion. The deal may include strategic investments (with Google providing more cloud computing services to Anthropic), Convertible Bonds, or a new round of priced financing starting early next year. The New York Times reported in March this year, citing legal documents, that Google has invested over $3 billion in Anthropic, holding about 14%. The latest negotiations come as Anthropic competes with its main rival OpenAI in a multi-trillion-dollar race for dominance in generative AI models. Meanwhile, the tech giants are becoming polarized: Amazon and Google support Anthropic, while Microsoft and Nvidia have invested billions in OpenAI.
