At the America Business Forum in Miami, U.S. President Donald J. Trump declared that the United States must win the race for cryptocurrency dominance — or risk being overtaken by China. He also announced that his administration has “ended the war on crypto” and is now focused on making America a “Bitcoin superpower.”

Trump: “We ended the war on crypto” During his speech, Trump emphasized that his administration has stopped the restrictive policies against cryptocurrencies previously enforced by the Biden White House. “I signed a historic executive order that ended the federal government’s war on crypto. The crypto industry was under siege — it’s not under siege anymore. It’s a big business, and we’re here to support it,” Trump said. He stressed that the U.S. must regain the lead in digital assets, blockchain, and artificial intelligence, in order to maintain its global technological dominance.

“We will make America a Bitcoin superpower” Trump reiterated his vision to make the U.S. the global capital of cryptocurrency, a statement that echoed his earlier remarks at the Bitcoin Conference in Nashville during his campaign. “We’re turning America into the Bitcoin superpower, the crypto capital of the world, and the undisputed leader in artificial intelligence,” Trump said.

“We’re far ahead of China — but we can’t get complacent. If we don’t handle crypto properly, China will. They’re already working on it. And so are other countries. If we don’t lead, we lose.”

Crypto reforms and the GENIUS Act Trump also highlighted his administration’s efforts to repeal restrictive crypto regulations and the signing of the GENIUS Act, a major stablecoin regulation bill enacted in July. The law requires that all stablecoins be fully backed by reserves held in liquid assets such as U.S. dollars or short-term Treasury bonds, and that issuers publish monthly reserve reports. According to the White House fact sheet, the legislation aims to increase transparency and consumer trust while promoting innovation in digital finance.

Trump slams Biden as “anti-crypto” Trump used his Miami speech to take a direct jab at his former rival, Joe Biden, accusing the previous administration of targeting crypto companies and damaging the entire industry. “Biden was nasty to crypto. He went after the crypto people. It was terrible. They were indicted — but so was I. I was indicted too,” Trump joked. “And just like me, crypto is making a comeback.” In an interview with CBS, Trump reiterated that digital assets are a ‘massive industry’ and a key part of his economic agenda. “My campaign openly supported digital assets,” he said. “When Biden realized I was getting nearly all the crypto votes, he suddenly changed his stance — but it didn’t work.”

Hong Kong and China accelerate the digital currency race Trump warned that China and Hong Kong are rapidly advancing their digital finance ecosystems. Hong Kong recently eased restrictions on licensed crypto exchanges, allowing them to connect directly with global platforms and list new digital assets without a long approval process. The city also became the first jurisdiction in the world to approve spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, months before the U.S. Professor Winston Ma of New York University said both powers are competing to expand the global use of their currencies: “China and the U.S. are both trying to build global ecosystems around their currencies. The one that gains broader adoption will gain influence,” Ma noted. According to SWIFT data, the U.S. dollar accounted for just under half of all global transactions in September, while China’s renminbi rose to fifth place, capturing 3.17% of global payments.

The U.S. vs. Asia: The race for digital dominance While China is rapidly developing its digital yuan and crypto infrastructure, the U.S. is now racing to catch up. Trump’s plan envisions America as a center for blockchain, stablecoin, and AI innovation, ensuring the dollar remains dominant in the digital age. “We must win this race for the future of money,” Trump concluded. “Because if we don’t, China will — and the world will change.”
