South Korea, the United States, and key partners have approved the Pax Silica declaration to build a trustworthy supply chain for (AI), strategic minerals, and other critical sectors. Led by the U.S., the initiative was signed at the first Pax Silica Conference in Washington, with participation from seven countries including the U.S., South Korea, Australia, Japan, the UK, Singapore, and Israel.

“Pax” signifies peace, stability, and long-term prosperity, while “Silica” refers to silicon – the core material used in manufacturing chips for AI. The declaration emphasizes ensuring a stable supply chain, reducing over-reliance, and strengthening cooperation with trusted partners, as the U.S. seeks to maintain an edge over China in the AI field.

The countries commit to collaborating across various areas such as advanced AI models, network infrastructure, mineral refinement, energy, logistics, and information connectivity, while promoting fair market practices and protecting critical technology and infrastructure.
