Abstract generation in progress

Meta is accelerating its autonomous AI strategy by confirming the acquisition of Manus – a startup developing versatile AI agents – with an estimated valuation of $2–3 billion. The deal demonstrates Meta’s desire to deeply integrate “agentic” AI into core platforms like WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook, rather than just stopping at chatbots.

Manus’s technology allows AI to perform multi-step tasks with minimal user intervention, such as travel planning, recruitment screening, or market research. Founded in early 2025, Manus achieved recurring revenue of $100 million in just 8 months – an exceptional growth rate. The company has relocated its headquarters from China to Singapore; Meta stated that all Chinese ownership has been acquired to avoid legal risks.

This deal adds to Meta’s long-term AI ambitions, aiming for AI systems capable of acting independently, not just responding to commands.
