In 2025, the competition among consumer AI enters a heated stage. The latest a16z podcast points out: ChatGPT leads with 8–9 hundred million weekly active users, with extremely high user stickiness, and over 90% of users rarely switch to other models. However, competition is quietly brewing, with Gemini achieving 155% annual growth on desktop, and Perplexity, Claude, Grok, and others also vying for mind share in their respective vertical tracks. Anthropic is even “specializing vertically,” precisely targeting technical users.
