Trump imposes tariffs on 8 European countries over Greenland

BlockBeats News, January 18th, Trump posted on Truth Social stating that due to the (Danish autonomous territory) Greenland issue, starting from February 1st of this year, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Finland will be subject to a 10% tariff on all goods exported to the United States. By June 1st of this year, the tariffs will be increased to 25%. These tariffs must be paid continuously until an agreement is reached on the “comprehensive and thorough purchase of Greenland.”

In his post, Trump stated, “Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Finland have all gone to Greenland for unclear purposes. This poses a very dangerous situation for the security, safety, and survival of our planet. These countries are playing an extremely dangerous game, and the risks they bring are intolerable and unsustainable. Therefore, to protect global peace and security, strong measures must be taken to quickly and unquestionably end this potential threat.”

Additionally, the European Union will hold an emergency meeting of member state ambassadors in Brussels on the 18th to discuss the Greenland issue and the new tariff threats from U.S. President Trump.
