OpenAI COO: The bottleneck in AI infrastructure has shifted from power to memory chips

Gate News News, March 25 — OpenAI COO Brad Lightcap stated at the Hill and Valley Forum in Washington that the current primary bottleneck for AI infrastructure expansion is memory chips: “Now it’s memory. It used to be power.” Tech companies are consuming increasing amounts of memory chip capacity, with large-scale purchases of NVIDIA AI accelerators being the main cause. Memory shortages have spread from the AI industry to consumer electronics and automotive sectors.
