Trump fundraising documents exposed, which encryption industry leaders support Trump's campaign?

Recently, two major fundraising channels for the Trump campaign, the Super PAC, namely Trump 47 Committee and America PAC, have separately submitted disclosure documents to the Federal Election Commission (FEC), revealing donations from long industry leaders or encryption-friendly supporters.

Data shows that from April 1st to June 30th, the Winklevoss brothers, Cameron Winklevoss and Tyler Winklevoss, have donated the most to support Trump, with donations exceeding $2.5 million. Sequoia Capital partner Douglas Leone, former PayPal executive, Kraken co-founder, and others follow behind.

As the US election approaches, Trump’s fundraising is also underway. PANews has compiled a list of prominent donors in the encryption industry who support Trump’s campaign based on publicly disclosed information.

Winklevoss brothers (Cameron Winklevoss, Tyler Winklevoss)

According to FEC records, encryptionexchange Gemini founder and Winklevoss Capital Management founder, the Winklevoss brothers, have donated 2.027 million dollars to the Trump 47 Committee in the form of BTC, but due to federal individual donation limits, 310,800 dollars will be refunded.

In addition, the Winklevoss brothers have each donated $250,000 to America PAC.

Sequoia Capital partner Douglas Leone

Doug Leone led venture capital firm Sequoia Capital as managing partner from 1996 to 2022. He resigned from the position in 2022 but continues to serve as a general partner. During his tenure, Leone led Sequoia Capital’s technology investments, including Medallia, Rackspace, RingCentral, ServiceNow, and Nubank.

On June 4, he said, “I am increasingly worried about the overall direction of our country, the broken immigration system, the ever-expanding deficit, and foreign policy mistakes. Therefore, I support former President Trump in the upcoming election.”

On June 14th, he donated $1 million to America PAC.

Former Tesla board member, Valor Equity partner and CEO Antonio Gracias

Antonio is the founder, CEO and CIO of Valor. He founded Valor in 1995 and has over 25 years of experience in private sale equity investment. Antonio served as a director of TSL from 2007 to 2021.

On June 28, he donated 1 million dollars to America PAC.

Palantir Technologies co-founder Joe Lonsdale

Joe Lonsdale is the co-founder and managing partner of 8VC, an early-stage venture capital firm with over $6 billion in capital under management. In 2003, he co-founded Palantir Technologies (NYSE: PLTR), a global software company known for supporting defense and intelligence work for the United States and its allies.

Lonsdale previously stated that the combination of artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency could be beneficial for both industries, indicating that BTC, Ethereum, and Solana will benefit from it. On June 7th, he donated $1 million to America PAC.

Co-founder of VC company Founders Fund, Kenneth Howery

Kenneth Howery is an American entrepreneur and diplomat. He is a co-founder of PayPal and Founders Fund. From 2019 to 2021, he served as the United States Ambassador to Sweden under the leadership of President Trump.

This time, on June 20th and June 21st, he donated 1 million dollars to America PAC.

encryptionexchange Kraken’s co-founder Jesse Powell

The co-founder of Kraken, Jesse Powell, has been involved in Digital Money since 2001, before becoming an encryption OG, he was the founder and CEO of Lewt, which provided account management and in-game currency services for Diablo II players from 2001 to 2011. In addition, he is also the founder of Verge Gallery. Shortly after the emergence of BTC, Powell, who has a background in philosophy and advocates liberalism, quickly became a staunch supporter of Cryptocurrency. He founded Kraken in 2011.

On June 28th, he stated in a post on X that ‘I’m happy to join other leaders in our community to support the only major political party candidate that supports cryptocurrency in the 2024 presidential election, so that the United States can continue to maintain its leading position in blockchain technology.’ On June 28th, he donated ETH worth 845,000 dollars.

Sequoia Capital investor Shaun Maguire

Shaun Maguire is a partner at Sequoia Capital. Previously, he co-founded Expanse, which was acquired by Palo Alto Networks for $800 million. He was also a partner at GV before.

On May 31st, within minutes of the verdict being announced that Shaun Maguire was found guilty in the Trump hush money case, he announced a $300,000 donation to Trump, citing an unfair trial. Maguire wrote a long article on X outlining a series of reasons for supporting Trump, including the Biden administration’s handling of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan and its ‘weakness’ in the Middle East.

Maguire added that various legal actions against Trump are also ‘radicalized experiences.’ ‘President Trump is indeed potentially facing serious charges and could be sent to prison,’ he wrote. ‘Frankly, this is part of the reason I support him. I believe our judicial system is being weaponized against him.’

Later, on June 18th, he donated $500,000 to America PAC.

Ripple Chief Legal Officer Stuart Alderoty

Stuart Alderoty is the Chief Legal Officer of Ripple, responsible for overseeing the legal, Compliance and regulatory business units. Stuart has over 30 years of legal experience, with expertise in Financial Service and regulatory affairs.

On June 11th, Stuart Alderoty donated $300,000 to the Trump 47 Committee in the form of XRP.

BitGo’s CEO Michael Belshe

Mike Belshe is an American computer scientist and entrepreneur. He is the co-founder and CEO of BitGo, Inc., and also a co-founder of Lookout Software in 2004. He is a co-inventor of the SPDY protocol and one of the main authors of the HTTP/2.0 specification.

On June 4th, he donated 50,000 US dollars to the Trump 47 Committee in the form of BTC.

Messari CEO Ryan Selkis

Ryan Selkis is the founder and CEO of Messari, and also a founding member of Digital Currency Group and CoinDesk. Ryan Selkis is also involved in venture capital and angel investment.

On May 8th, Ryan was invited to speak at the Non-fungible Token dinner hosted by Trump. On June 3rd, Ryan donated USDC worth $50,000 to the Trump 47 Committee.
