The journalist learned that this event is the first public open day event held in a museum since Beijing vigorously promoted a series of industrial tourism activities recently. With the active promotion of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology and Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, a series of rich and colorful industrial tourism projects are being fully launched, and the special exhibition “Craftsmanship·Innovation” at the Beijing Arts and Crafts Museum has also added a bright color to Beijing’s industrial tourism.

The special exhibition is another heavyweight exhibition launched by the Beijing Arts and Crafts Museum following the successful holding of last year’s ‘Encounter with Eight Masterpieces’ special exhibition. The exhibition focuses on the milestone works of intangible cultural heritage in Beijing’s handicraft industry after the founding of New China, covering precious exhibits such as small samples of the People’s Heroes Monument relief and craft manuscripts, aiming to enable the public to deeply understand the craftsmanship and creative ideas behind each work. This event is not only the museum’s New Year’s exhibition, but also provides the public with an opportunity to have a close encounter and experience the intangible cultural heritage. At the event, visitors from all walks of life and many media reporters, under the guidance of the guide, had a close-up view of the rich collection of the museum, and experienced the beauty of the integration of traditional craftsmanship and modern technology. The exhibition uses innovative technologies such as holographic display cabinets, VR experiences, AR refrigerator stickers, AIGC cameras, vividly showcasing the charm of traditional arts and crafts, bringing a new visiting experience to the audience, and empowering traditional arts and crafts with new vitality in the metaverse. It is worth mentioning that some visitors also personally participated in the production of intangible cultural heritage projects such as painting inside snuff bottles. By combining the millennium-old handicraft industry with modern digital technology, the exhibition not only allows the audience to appreciate the unique charm and profound connotation of traditional handicrafts but also deeply understand the persistence and inheritance of craftsmanship spirit in the changing times.
