Gate News message: On April 3, US President Trump on Friday released an overview of the FY 2027 budget proposal, planning to request $1.5 trillion in defense spending—an amount that sets the record for the highest in modern history. Under this defense spending proposal, the next fiscal year will provide the US Department of Defense with $1.1 trillion in funding, with an additional $350 billion allocated for key munitions procurement, expansion of the defense industrial base, and other related matters. This preliminary plan did not disclose many key details, including the overall spending scale and long-term forecasts of fiscal revenue. As early as January of this year—before the US launched a large-scale strike against Iran—Trump had already pledged to submit a defense budget request of $1.5 trillion. This budget also provides funding support for some new government initiatives, including $30 million to back the newly established National Fraud Investigation Unit led by Vice President JD Vance, and $10 billion in mandatory funding to create a Presidential Capital Management Plan within the National Park Service for construction and beautification projects in Washington, D.C.
