This is reportedly the first clear restriction on Israeli military actions since the U.S.-Israel joint military operations against Iran began. The reasons for the U.S. request include the potential to drive up global oil prices and the risk of Iran launching large-scale retaliation against energy infrastructure in the Gulf region. The sources said the Trump administration considers attacking Iran’s oil facilities a “last resort” and would only take such action if Iran first attacks energy facilities in Gulf countries.
