MetaMask Developer ConsenSys Brings Layer 2 Blockchain ‘Linea’ to Ethereum Mainnet
ConsenSys, the company behind MetaMask and Infura, is launching its much-anticipated L2 network, Linea, on mainnet this week. Linea uses zero-knowledge tech, which helps it reduce transaction costs and increase speed. Developers will be able to launch projects on Linea's alpha network, with public use rolling out next week. Its ZK-rollup network, beta tested by 5 million wallets, is aiming, much like all the other L2s that have launched, to make Ethereum more accessible by providing a network on top of Ethereum with cheaper transaction fees. However, unlike some competitors, ConsenSys currently has no plans to issue a token for Linea.
