Cried my eyes out watching the "Delightful Night Season 2" awards ceremony 🏆
1. Ma Dong went from "CCTV" to "Homosexual Interview" to "Qi Pa Shuo" to "The Big Band" to "Annual Comedy Competition" to "Delightful Night."
He deserves to have a monument erected for him in China's variety show industry.
He not only has the ability to continuously create hit shows and explore new variety program formats, but can also cultivate a large number of professional talents for the Chinese variety show industry 👍
2. Ku Teng and Tian Fang won the championship, which was very unexpected, because they had the lowest educational backgrounds, especially Ku Teng—not from a professional performing arts school, and can't compare to those from Central Academy of Drama or Shanghai Theatre Academy, but why was it them who won the championship?
One thing that sets Ku Teng apart from everyone else is: he has an internet sense far beyond others. He knows what netizens want, and he knows what to deliver. Of course, he also works extremely hard and handles interpersonal relationships very well.
3. Sketch as an art form is amazing. Compared to stand-up, I much prefer Sketch. Maybe it's related to my work experience—I like stage performances that are comprehensive.
Comedy has depth (the following increases sequentially, purely subjective):
1️⃣ Pure text: jokes, just a quick laugh 2️⃣ Stand-up & crosstalk: turns jokes into speech, with expressions and a bit of movement, making the punchlines richer 3️⃣ Fu Hang's stand-up: takes stand-up a big step forward
It's stand-up + physical performance + foundation
- Most stand-up used to be just talking, which was fine in the early days, but now with rising competition, it doesn't work anymore. Fu Hang added physical performance, and he could totally give lessons to other stand-up comedians, but apparently he doesn't dare. The "performance" here is similar to the "learning" in crosstalk's "speaking, imitating, teasing, singing," which is actually "acting."
- This should have been Guo Degang's task, but as people age, they lose motivation for new creations. Unexpectedly, Fu Hang picked it up.
- I never understood why old stand-up acts had no foundation. If anyone knows, please tell me. I always felt like they were just unfinished jokes, not complete works. Until I saw Fu Hang's stand-up, I realized it was just a lack of ability.
4️⃣ Sketch: I haven't studied this format, just judging by the works in "Delightful Night."
- Verbal punchlines + physical performance are the basics - Stage drama elements: music, sound effects, lighting, stage design
The same storyline, with music, becomes more emotional; with sound effects, it's easier to stir emotions; with lighting, you can control attention; with stage design, you can increase immersion.
All combined, it makes for a very rich stage presentation.
4. The comedy landscape is about to change: if many "Delightful Night" actors get signed by Miwei, then Miwei will be an unignorable force in comedy in the future.
Or rather, the most promising and powerful force in drama—give it another 5 years and we'll see the results.
Lastly
If the heavens did not give us MM Ma, variety shows in the past hundred years would be like a long night.
