The UK High Court has allowed a lawsuit involving 2,323 bitcoins (approximately $172 million) over theft to proceed. Plaintiff Ping Fai Yuen accused his estranged wife Fun Yung Li of spying on his hardware wallet seed phrase through a CCTV camera in their home and unauthorized transferring bitcoins stored in a Trezor cold wallet in August 2023. The judge acknowledged that the plaintiff's "conversion" claim typically applies only to tangible property under English law, but ruled that the case can proceed based on other legal grounds. The relevant bitcoins are currently scattered across 71 on-chain addresses and have not been moved since December 2023. (CoinDesk)
