Laut CNN unter Berufung auf Daten der U.S. Energy Information Administration fiel der Rohölbestand in Cushing, Oklahoma—Amerikas wichtigstem Öllieferknoten für West Texas Intermediate-Futures—am 12. Juni auf 21,6 Millionen Barrel und nähert sich damit der 20-Millionen- Barrel-Marke als operativer Warnschwelle. Cushing hält typischerweise etwa 40 Millionen Barrel und verfügt über eine maximale Speicherkapazität von 75 Millionen Barrel.
