SBF獄中砲轟西方メディアのダブルスタンダード:マドゥロ逮捕は違法、ホンジュラスJOH逮捕は沈黙か?

Still serving time, FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) has voiced his perspective through the X platform, sharply criticizing Western liberal media for their double standards in the cases of Venezuelan President Maduro and Honduras’ former President JOH under the title “A Tale of Two Presidents,” sparking heated discussions in international political circles. (Background: The market has complaints about CZ, and people have begun missing SBF) (Additional context: SBF exposes from prison: I privately donated tens of millions of dollars to Republicans, and then I was arrested!)

Still serving time, FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) posted a series of tweets on the X platform today (6th) through his proxy account @SBF_FTX, forming a thread titled “A tale of two Presidents.”

In this post, SBF contrasts Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro with Honduras’ former President Juan Orlando Hernández (JOH). He points out that both came to power in “narco-states,” but their subsequent performance diverged dramatically: JOH cooperated with the United States to combat drug trafficking organizations, resulting in a significant reduction in drug trafficking volumes, and peacefully transferred power after his term ended; Maduro, on the other hand, cooperated with drug trafficking organizations, with drug trafficking volumes surging significantly, and refused to recognize election results, becoming a dictator.

SBF then mentions that the United States arrested and extradited both men from their respective countries to face trial in America — JOH was arrested immediately after his term ended, while Maduro was arrested after refusing to recognize election results. However, Western liberal media’s responses were starkly different: they heavily criticized Maduro’s arrest as “illegal,” yet remained silent or supportive regarding JOH’s arrest; media called for Maduro’s release, yet did not speak out for JOH.

SBF emphasized at the conclusion that this is not a matter of the rule of law, but rather that liberal media supports the “narco-dictator” Maduro due to their opposition to Trump, while opposing JOH, Trump’s cooperator who was pardoned. He stated bluntly: “Don’t believe their nonsense, this isn’t about the rule of law.”

Background of SBF’s Posts

The background of this series of posts stems from recent major international events. On January 3, 2026, U.S. special forces conducted operations in Venezuela, arrested Maduro and transferred him to detention in New York, with charges including drug terrorism conspiracy and cocaine importation, sparking international controversy. In contrast, JOH was previously sentenced to 45 years in prison by a U.S. court on similar drug charges, but was completely pardoned and released by Trump in December 2025.
