According to the U.S. Department of Energy, 8.5 million barrels of crude oil passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday (July 12) with U.S. military support, despite weekend clashes with Iran. The department's spokesperson stated that U.S. forces will ensure continuous oil transportation regardless of Iranian cooperation. Daily crude exports from the Persian Gulf region average 15 million barrels.

President Trump resumed a naval blockade of the strait on Monday (July 13), according to CNBC.
