Base Network Suffers Two Outages on June 26 Due to Sequencer Bug, Down 116 and 20 Minutes

According to Base team's official statement on June 28, the Layer 2 network experienced two consecutive outages on June 26 due to a software bug in the Sequencer's block construction logic. An invalid transaction failed to properly clear its temporary state (Journal State), causing the Sequencer and validator nodes to halt block production. The first outage lasted 116 minutes; the second lasted 20 minutes.

After deploying a patch, a second issue emerged: a race condition prevented the Sequencer from syncing promptly, triggering the second outage. Base plans to enhance protocol fuzz testing and improve network recovery mechanisms to prevent future incidents.
