According to CryptoQuant, on June 18, Bitcoin network activity climbed to within 7% of its September 2024 record, driven by a surge in sub-0.01 BTC microtransactions rather than economic payments. The firm's Network Activity Index has held above its long-term trend for the first time since mid-2024. Sub-0.01 BTC transactions now account for roughly 80% of all daily transactions, up from about 44% in 2023, with the increase primarily driven by inscription protocols including Runes, Ordinals, and BRC-20 activity.
