According to CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost on July 7, Bitcoin's apparent demand remained negative for most of 2026 but has recently improved. The metric dropped to a yearly low of -275,000 BTC on June 3 and has since recovered to approximately -75,000 BTC. Apparent demand measures whether long-term holders' buying activity can absorb new BTC supply, calculated by comparing newly issued BTC against dormant supply inactive for over one year. While recent improvement is notable, true demand recovery requires the indicator to return to positive territory.
