China's Current Account Surplus Hits 1.84 Trillion Yuan in Q1 2026

According to the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, China recorded a current account surplus of 1.841 trillion yuan (approximately $265 billion) in the first quarter of 2026, with merchandise trade contributing a 1.721 trillion yuan surplus, partially offset by a 413.9 billion yuan deficit in services trade. The announcement was made on May 15.
