China's Highest-Latitude Solar Thermal Power Plant Starts Operations in Jilin, 100MW Capacity

According to CCTV News, China's first solar thermal power station in Northeast China - the CGN Jixi 100-megawatt solar thermal facility - began operations in Daan City, Jilin Province on June 29. Located at 45.36 degrees north latitude in a severe cold climate zone, it is China's highest-latitude solar thermal power station. With a capacity of 100 megawatts and 8 hours of thermal storage capability, the plant can operate continuously and safely for 24 hours. The facility uses large-scale mirror arrays to concentrate sunlight onto heat collection devices for energy storage.
