China's Ministry of State Security Warns AI Relay Platforms Over Unauthorized Data Resale

According to China's Ministry of State Security on June 8, the ministry warned that AI proxy relay platforms lack proper data encryption and security controls. The statement, monitored by Beating, highlighted multiple risks: some operators are improperly retaining and reselling user data to other AI model vendors for training purposes, while others use low-tier models as premium alternatives with verification disabled. The ministry also flagged hidden backdoors potentially used for malware injection and credential theft, as well as uncontrolled cross-border data transfers that may expose personal privacy, business secrets, and state secrets. The warning comes as China's central cyberspace authority deploys a nationwide campaign to address AI application irregularities.
