Dow Jones Hits 53,000 for First Time, Up 0.3% on July 6 as AI Rally Reignites

According to Edaily Korea, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 53,055.91 on July 6, up 0.29%, breaking the 53,000 level for the first time on a closing basis. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 1.12% to 26,121.16, while the S&P 500 climbed 0.72% to 7,537.43.

The gains were driven by renewed interest in artificial intelligence-related technology stocks, with the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index surging 2.2%. Broadcom advanced 3.7% following news of an extended chip supply agreement with Apple through 2031. Economic data also supported sentiment, as the June services sector purchasing managers index held steady at 54, above the 50-point expansion threshold, while employment indicators showed their largest increase since 2024.
