S&P 500 Closes Up 0.7% on July 6; Nasdaq-100 Gains 1.3% as AMD Surges 7%

The S&P 500 index closed up 0.7% today (July 6), with the telecommunications sector rising 1.8%, technology gaining 1.3%, and consumer discretionary up 0.9%. The Nasdaq-100 index advanced 1.3%, led by AMD's 7% gain. Other major gainers included Astera Labs, Western Digital, Tesla, CoreWeave, Qualcomm, and Seagate Technology, each rising at least 5.4%. Netflix declined 2.4%, while O'Reilly Automotive fell 6.8% and Rocket Lab dropped 7.8%.

The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index rose 2.1%, while the storage chip index gained 2%.
