Five Senate Democrats called for congressional hearings into President Trump's crypto holdings on Friday after financial disclosures revealed over $1.2 billion in crypto-related income. Lawmakers Elizabeth Warren, Richard Blumenthal, Gary Peters, Dick Durbin, and Ron Wyden, the top Democrats on their respective banking, investigations, homeland security, judiciary, and finance committees, cited concerns about potential conflicts of interest and Trump's role in shaping crypto policy while profiting from the industry.

The disclosures showed unknown third parties, including UAE royals with a 49% stake in Trump's World Liberty Financial, own portions of his crypto ventures. The request for hearings comes as the Trump administration pushes Congress to pass the Clarity Act, which would legalize most crypto activity in the U.S., but the legislation remains stalled over ethics provisions targeting the president's ability to issue and endorse digital assets.
