Hong Kong stocks closed strongly today, with the Hang Seng Index rising 278 points or 1.12% to 25,170 as of 10:47 AM HK time, according to HKEJ market data. The index had climbed over 300 points intraday, briefly reaching 25,196 before paring gains. The National Index gained 86 points or 1.04% to 8,337, while the Tech Index added 21 points or 0.46% to 4,689.
Tech giants rebounded strongly. Tencent rose 1.8% to HK$448.60, while Meituan, Baidu, and Kuaishou each gained between 1.3% and 1.7%. The optical communications sector extended gains after Zhongji Innolight began IPO subscriptions, with Fiberhome Telecommunication climbing 2.5% and Cambridge Technologies jumping 4.8%.
