According to Iran's state television on June 28, ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz must coordinate with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The safest shipping lane for vessels entering the Persian Gulf is south of Hormuz Island, while the safe route for departing ships is south of Larak Island.
