Kuwaiti-Flagged Oil Tanker Attacked Near Strait of Hormuz; Fuel Tank Ablaze on July 20

According to Xinhua News Agency, a Kuwaiti-flagged oil tanker came under attack near the eastern entrance of the Strait of Hormuz on the evening of July 20. The fuel tank caught fire, producing heavy smoke from the damaged area. Two crew members sustained light injuries.

The crew reported being unable to cool the fuel tank. Ship personnel have boarded lifeboats in preparation for possible evacuation and are awaiting nearby rescue assistance.
