Novo Nordisk CEO Confirms Semaglutide Data Exclusivity Extended to Q2 2027

According to China Economic Net, Novo Nordisk CEO Mike Doustdar recently confirmed that semaglutide's regulatory data protection in China will extend through Q2 2027, after which generic versions can legally enter the market. The exclusivity period, lasting over one year beyond current protections, is based on the China-Switzerland Free Trade Agreement rather than domestic Chinese regulations. More than 10 domestic pharmaceutical companies have submitted generic drug applications but have not yet launched products.
