Posco Redeems $360M Foreign Currency Bonds Through Debt Tender Offer, 1.5 Years Early

According to Yonhap Infomax, Posco recently early-redeemed $360 million of foreign currency bonds issued in 2023 through a debt tender offer on July 20, ahead of their January 2028 maturity. The bonds carry a 5.75% interest rate, issued when U.S. rates were rising.

The early redemption is expected to save the steelmaker approximately $31 million in interest expenses until maturity. The move improves Posco's financial flexibility and debt structure while demonstrating capability in global liability management techniques rarely used by Korean issuers.
