Snap Spins Off AI Video Team as Independent Company Dotmo on June 19

According to BlockBeats, on June 19, Snap announced it would spin off its generative AI video team to form an independent company called Dotmo. The new company will focus on developing AI models capable of generating interactive gaming experiences. Snap cited high internal R&D costs as a reason for separating this work externally.

While operating independently, Dotmo will maintain close ties with Snapchat. Snap will provide technology licensing to enable Dotmo to apply the technology to gaming and interactive entertainment platforms. Dotmo's initial team will consist of current Snap employees who will leave the company to establish the new venture.
