South Korea Projects 2027 Government Bond Net Issuance at 75-90 Trillion Won

According to iM Securities analyst Kim Myung-sil, South Korea is projected to issue 75-90 trillion won in net government bonds for 2027, down from current levels but substantially above pre-pandemic averages of 35 trillion won, according to a report released on July 7. The analyst cited improved corporate earnings and resulting tax increases as key factors, though emphasized that fiscal spending decisions, rather than revenue growth alone, will ultimately determine debt issuance levels.
