Synopsys Discontinues EDA Software Products, Notified Chipmakers in April and May

According to Reuters, Synopsys notified over 10 chipmakers including Samsung and SK Hynix in April and May of plans to discontinue portions of its traditional EDA software suite. The company said it is halting certain legacy analysis products to redirect resources toward higher-value offerings. Affected products include Equipment Engineering Systems (EES) and Fault Detection and Classification (FDC), automated software that serves as a semiconductor wafer fab's central monitoring system for detecting anomalies before they escalate into costly defects.
