Taiwan's Financial Sector Exposure to Mainland China Rises to TWD 792.4 Billion by May 2026

According to Taiwan's Financial Supervisory Commission, the financial sector's exposure to mainland China (banks, securities firms, and insurers) rose to approximately TWD 792.4 billion by the end of May 2026, up 2.85 billion from the previous month, marking a nine-month high. The increase was driven by yuan appreciation, rising mainland stock valuations boosting investment returns, and increased credit extensions to support local businesses' funding needs in mainland China, the FSC noted.
