Tokyo CPI Rises to 1.6% in June, Unlikely to Accelerate BOJ Rate Hikes: Economist

According to Jin10, Takuya Hoshino from Dai-ichi Life Economic Research Institute said on June 26 that Tokyo's consumer inflation, which rose 1.6% year-over-year in June from 1.3% in May, is unlikely to accelerate Bank of Japan rate hikes. Despite the uptick marking the first increase in eight months, Hoshino stated the data does not yet suggest enough momentum in cost pressures on consumers to trigger early policy action by the central bank.
