Tropical Depression in South China Sea to Make Landfall on Hainan Island on July 3, Forecasters Warn

According to China's National Marine Environmental Forecasting Center, the center of a tropical depression in the South China Sea was located approximately 175 kilometers southeast of Wanning, Hainan Province, as of 2 p.m. on July 2. The system is moving west-northwest at 10 kilometers per hour and is expected to intensify gradually before making landfall on Hainan Island's eastern coast on the evening of July 3. The forecasting center has issued a yellow alert for sea waves and a blue alert for storm surge.
