Trump's Crypto Income Disclosure Pushes Ethics Clause Debate in Clarity Act Negotiations

WLFI-0.39%

According to Odaily, President Trump's latest financial disclosure filing reveals hundreds of millions of dollars in crypto-related income, including millions connected to the Trump family's DeFi project World Liberty Financial, intensifying congressional negotiations over ethics provisions in the proposed Clarity Act.

Democratic senators, including Angela Alsobrooks, Kirsten Gillibrand, and Elizabeth Warren, are pushing for strict ethics clauses to prevent the president, vice president, and members of Congress from profiting from digital assets during their tenure. Warren warned that without such restrictions, the bill would enable further crypto-related corruption. Republican lawmakers have indicated ethics provisions remain part of ongoing bipartisan talks as Congress moves toward advancing the Clarity Act in early July.
