US Lifts Export Curbs on Anthropic's Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5 Models

The US lifted export restrictions on Anthropic's Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI models as of today, according to the company's blog post and a letter from Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. Fable 5 is now available globally, while US organizations regained access to Mythos 5 on June 26.

In the letter viewed by Reuters and The New York Times, Lutnick stated Anthropic would "no longer need a license for exports or in-country transfers" of the two models. The move followed the Trump administration flagging them as national security risks about three weeks ago. Anthropic agreed to expand government partnerships, including a red-teaming program with hackers and a dedicated 24/7 internal team to monitor emerging jailbreak threats.
