According to Techub News, reported by The Verge, OpenAI will acquire the AI hardware company io, founded by former Apple design chief Jony Ive, for nearly $6.5 billion. As part of the acquisition, about 55 hardware engineers, software developers, and manufacturing experts will join OpenAI, including Cannon, Hankey, and Tan. The first batch of devices after the acquisition is expected to be released in 2026.
