Claude Managed Agents features and how it works—see it all at a glance! Can it help businesses accelerate production by 10x?

Anthropic has launched Claude Managed Agents, offering fully managed infrastructure and multi-agent coordination, significantly simplifying the underlying architecture for development. The company claims it can help businesses accelerate production by tenfold, and it is actively moving to capture the enterprise AI market.

Claude Managed Agents are officially launched

AI tech giant Anthropic has launched Claude Managed Agents, helping enterprises build and deploy AI Agents more easily. This tool provides developers with a plug-and-play foundation, simplifying the complex processes that previously hindered task automation, and it claims to speed up the time it takes for businesses to move products into production by ten times.

What features does Claude Managed Agents offer?

According to the official article, when most enterprises develop agent systems, it typically takes several months to handle infrastructure, state management, and permissions configuration.

Claude Managed Agents abstracts away these complex underlying architectures, so developers only need to define the agent’s tasks and guardrails, and the platform will automatically handle the subsequent operations.

Its main features include the following:

Feature 1: Fully managed secure infrastructure

Claude Managed Agents provides production-grade execution environments, automatically handling secure sandbox execution and verification, enabling language models to access files, execute code, and browse the web inside protected cloud containers.

Feature 2: Supports long-running autonomous operation

Claude Managed Agents is designed for asynchronous work that needs to run for long periods. Agents can operate autonomously for hours and have a persistent file system and recorded conversation history, so even if the connection drops mid-way, the execution progress and output results can be preserved.

Feature 3: Multi-agent coordination and governance tools

Claude Managed Agents can start up and direct other agents to process work in parallel. The platform includes governance tools such as identity management, scoped permissions, and execution tracking, ensuring agents’ safety when accessing real systems.

How does Claude Managed Agents work?

Regarding how Claude Managed Agents actually operates, the official documentation breaks it down into the following steps:

  • Create an agent: Developers define the model, system prompts, and tools; once created, it can be referenced repeatedly across different sessions.
  • Set up an environment: Configure cloud containers, preinstall software packages, and set network access rules in advance.
  • Start a session: Start the execution instance that references the agent and the environment configuration above to carry out a specific task.
  • Send events and stream responses: Send user messages as events; the model autonomously executes tools and returns the results, while the historical record is also retained on the server side.
  • Guide or interrupt: During execution, users can send additional events to guide the agent, or directly interrupt it to change the execution direction.

Bridging the technical gap—Notion tests it first

Claude platform engineering lead Katelyn Lesse points out that large-scale deployment of agents is a highly complex distributed systems engineering problem. With Anthropic’s ready-made underlying architecture, customers’ engineers can focus their energy on core business and product development.

An Anthropic official article further explains that in older AI Agents designs, language models and execution tools are often bound within the same container, which makes system maintenance difficult.

The new architecture separates the computation model from the execution environment. This not only greatly reduces latency for generating the first token, but also allows agents to flexibly connect to enterprises’ own virtual private clouds, while improving security and preventing malicious code from accessing sensitive credentials.

In real-world applications, productivity startup Notion demonstrates how to use this new service to drive customer engagement features.

During the demo, Notion product manager Eric Liu handed a long list of tasks to Claude Managed Agents, and it began completing each step one by one. Developers can also directly view the agents’ work status and the tools they use in real time through the Claude platform dashboard.

Tech giants race for the enterprise AI market

Recently, tech companies have been pouring resources into the enterprise AI market, **and this February OpenAI launched the **Frontier platform, while in March this year Nvidia also followed the OpenClaw crayfish-raising craze by **launching the open-source **NemoClaw designed for OpenClaw, offering open models and isolated sandbox environments that add data privacy and security protections for AI Agents.

These moves show that the industry is actively building more scalable and secure AI infrastructure for enterprises, accelerating the full rollout of AI in the business domain.
