On March 11, tech giant Meta announced the acquisition of AI agent social networking platform Moltbook, sparking market interest in related crypto assets. Following the announcement, the MOLT token surged over 258% in the past 24 hours, with a trading price reaching $0.000080, a 1495.90% increase in daily trading volume, and a significant rise in social media activity.
Moltbook was co-founded by Matt Schlicht and Ben Parr, focusing on providing a social connection platform for AI agents. The acquisition will integrate the two founders into Meta’s Superintelligence Lab (MSL), with completion expected by March 16. Meta stated that the addition of the Moltbook team will promote innovation in AI agent applications for personal and business services, opening new market pathways through an always-online agent directory.
Launched in late January 2026, Moltbook operates similarly to Reddit. OpenClaw, its main open-source framework, provides technical support for building AI agent platforms. In February, OpenClaw founder Peter Steinberger announced joining OpenAI and plans to transform the project into an independent foundation. Meanwhile, NVIDIA is also planning to open-source the NemoClaw platform, further increasing institutional investment in the AI agent field.
Although the MOLT token is not an official Moltbook token, investor sentiment remains high. Social media data shows mentions of MOLT skyrocketed to 1,416, with 857,000 interactions. Its AltRank jumped to second place among cryptocurrencies, and Galaxy Score hit a record high of 87.5. The market cap increased by 24% in 24 hours, surpassing $30 million, indicating strong investor interest in AI agent-related crypto assets.
The Moltbook team emphasized that they have not issued an official token but are closely monitoring market developments. This acquisition not only caused the MOLT token price to soar but also sparked widespread attention to AI agent platforms and related blockchain projects, demonstrating that competition among tech giants in the intersection of artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency is accelerating.
