Arthur Hayes Predicts Ethereum’s Market Decline
Arthur Hayes, co-founder of BitMEX, claimed in a recent interview that Ethereum (ETH) will fall out of the top three cryptocurrencies by market capitalization by 2030. According to Hayes, AI-focused altcoins could replace Ethereum in this ranking.
AI Altcoins as Ethereum Replacements
Hayes pointed to AI-powered projects like Render Network and Fetch.ai as examples attracting investor attention. He noted that these AI-focused cryptocurrencies represent an emerging sector gaining momentum in the digital asset market.
Growth Comparison: AI Sector vs. Ethereum
According to Hayes, the AI-powered crypto sector grew 250% in the first half of 2024, compared to Ethereum’s 40% growth during the same period. Hayes suggested this performance differential could shift investor perception of digital asset value.
Capital Redistribution Scenario
Hayes theorized that if an AI-based altcoin replaces Ethereum in market rankings, ETH investors could redirect their capital toward AI tokens. This capital reallocation within the crypto ecosystem could increase overall interest in the AI sector and attract new investors to digital assets focused on artificial intelligence.
