Google DeepMind VP John Jumper, 2024 Nobel Prize Winner, Exits for Anthropic

According to Bloomberg, John Jumper, a vice president at Google DeepMind, is leaving for Anthropic, an AI company based in San Francisco, both companies confirmed on June 19. Jumper led DeepMind's AlphaFold research and shared the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry with CEO Demis Hassabis for that work. His departure removes one of DeepMind's highest-profile scientific leaders as Google faces challenges in competing in the AI coding market.
