Infineon Wins GaN Patent Case in Germany; GaN Technologies Faces Sales Ban and Damages

According to Munich Regional Court (Landgericht München I), Infineon prevailed today (June 19) in two gallium nitride (GaN) patent infringement cases against GaN Technologies. The court prohibited GaN Technologies from manufacturing, selling, and marketing infringing products in Germany and ordered the company to pay damages to Infineon.

The ruling marks a sharp contrast to a Chinese court decision last week, where Infineon was ordered to pay GaN Technologies 10 million yuan in damages and faced sales restrictions in China for certain GaN products. The two verdicts highlight the ongoing global patent dispute between the semiconductor rivals across multiple jurisdictions.
