Michael Saylor Identifies Four Bitcoin Ideological Schools: Maximalists, Capitalists, Technologists, Fundamentalists

According to ChainCatcher, Michael Saylor, founder and executive chairman of MicroStrategy, recently outlined on X that the Bitcoin community is dividing into four core ideological camps: Bitcoin Maximalists (emphasizing Bitcoin as a dominant global digital currency network), Bitcoin Capitalists (advocating deep integration with banking and capital markets), Bitcoin Technologists (supporting careful protocol upgrades for scalability and innovation), and Bitcoin Fundamentalists (prioritizing self-custody, decentralization, and protocol immutability). Saylor argued that Bitcoin's future should not force a choice between purity and adoption or between innovation and stability, but instead achieve balance through disciplined expansion: maintaining the stability and decentralization of the base layer while concentrating most innovation on layer-two networks, custody, credit infrastructure, and capital markets.
